The Wendling Estate was Area 5 in the comprehensive post-war redevelopment of Gospel Oak. Although the redevelopment was bookended by a first phase by Powell and Moya in 1951 and a last in 1972 by Benson and Forsyth 90 per cent of the redevelopment was by one firm – Frederick MacManus & Partners, formerly Edward Armstrong and Frederick MacManus.
